Elementary Tutoring

ElementaryTutoring

The Jennie Long Elementary Tutoring Fund provides one-on-one tutoring by certified teachers
to elementary students outside regular Ripon Area School District hours. Student recipients historically make
significant progress in math and reading. Teachers also report notable improvement in motivation, behavior and
joy of learning.

Students Selection Process

Each year, teachers nominate and principals select students for the tutoring program. The focus of the program is to boost student skills and development in order to meet grade-level expectations, address retention concerns and/or minimize regression of learning skills during summer break.

Fund History

The fund, established in 2004, is named for retired superintendent Mike Heckman’s grandmother, Jennie Long, a teacher for 50 years. She served much of her career operating from a one-room schoolhouse serving students in grades 1-8. In her later years, she tutored students in math and reading. We welcome your support of the Jennie Long Tutoring Program.
