Ripon Education Foundation Scholarships

Every spring, the Ripon Education Foundation awards more than a dozen scholarships, ranging from $500 to $5,000, to college-bound Ripon High School seniors. Between 1999 and 2022, the Foundation awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships to more than 350 deserving students. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Ripon Education Foundation Scholarship Committee according to the specific criteria for each scholarship. Scholarships and the application process are described below.

All scholarship awards are sent directly to the student's chosen post-secondary institution to be applied to tuition. Students must be enrolled at an accredited four-year college/university or an accredited technical college/community college program in order for the awards to be dispersed.

Students may apply for these scholarships through the Fox River Scholarship Center by adding the
scholarship name to their basket. 

Licking Award - $1000


One Licking Scholarship is awarded each year to a Ripon High School senior who has achieved distinction in communication intensive activities such as school newspaper, theater or national/state presentations like FBLA finals OR who intends to pursue a major in communication, journalism, or theater.

The original award was established by the family of former Superintendent of Schools Licking with the intent of
recognizing achievement in high school forensics. Since then the purpose has been broadened.

Ripon Education Foundation
Merit Scholarship - $1000 (Up to 4 are given annually.)


Up to four merit-based scholarships are awarded every year to outstanding Ripon High School seniors who have participated in the Ripon Education Scholarship Drive for two or more years. Award recipients are chosen based on accomplishments, that include a combination of scholastic excellence, extra curricular  participation, leadership positions and community involvement. The merit scholarships are funded by generous donors to the Ripon Education Foundation.

Ralph Quinney Memorial
Scholarships - $1,000 (Two are awarded each year.)


One Ralph Quinney Scholarship is awarded each year to a Ripon High School senior who intends to pursue a degree in business or a related field at an accredited four-year or two-year college or technical college. A second scholarship is awarded each year to a student who plans to pursue a degree in agricultureSuccessful applicants will have demonstrated scholarship, leadership, community service and good character. 

This scholarship is given in memory of Ralph Quinney, retired Ripon banker, who was known for his remarkable
community service. Mr. Quinney was a member of the Ripon Santa Club, Ripon Area Food Pantry, Ripon Rotary, Town of Ripon Planning and Zoning Committee and the Ripon Educational Foundation. He also was on the Board of Directors for Russell Manor in Ripon and the Ripon Historical Society. The scholarship is funded by his family.

Shirley Hayes Memorial Scholarship - $500


One Shirley Hayes Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a Ripon High School Senior who has demonstrated good character, scholarship, leadership, and community service. Though the award may be applied to tuition at either two or four-year colleges, preference is given students with plans to attend one of
Wisconsin’s Technical Colleges. 

This scholarship is given in memory of Shirley Hayes, who was devoted to quality education and served three terms on the Ripon School Board. Shirley and her husband William raised seven children in Ripon. Her daughter Cindy (Hayes) Diemer serves on the Ripon Education Foundation Board. The scholarship is funded by family, friends and the Billy Hayes Memorial.

Ronnie Eichstedt Memorial
Scholarship - $1000


One or two scholarships are offered as funding permits. Ronnie Eichstedt scholarship recipients are selected based on academic accomplishments, leaderships, and community service.

This scholarship is given in memory of Ronelle Eichstedt who died in 1992 at the age of 10.
The scholarship is funded by family members and friends of the family.
Ripon Area School District Administrative Leadership Scholarship - $500

Funded by RASD Administrators, this scholarship is awarded to a Ripon High School senior who has
demonstrated outstanding leadership and academic excellence.

William Crook Memorial
Scholarship - $1,000 to $2000


One William Crook Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a Ripon High Senior who has shown excellence in academics and has a preference for a career in engineering or a related field. 

This scholarship is given in memory of William Crook, Ripon High School graduate who worked as an engineer at Speed Queen in Ripon. Bill was very talented. Over the years he was into leather work, fly tying and gig making, reloading gun shells, stained glass, wood working, gardening and numerous other projects. The thing
he enjoyed most was riding on his tractor, either mowing or plowing while he whistled. The scholarship is funded
by his family.

Justin Krueger Trade School School Scholarship - $5,000 (two will be awarded annually)


The scholarships will be offered to 2 graduating Ripon seniors who plan to attend a Post-Secondary Technical College, University or Trade School and major in a Trade field (example: welding, construction, machine tooling, electrician, mechanical engineering). Applicants must exhibit good character, community service, leadership, and scholarship.

Justin Krueger, a 1997 Graduate of Ripon High School, has successfully completed more than $500 million of construction in the Affordable Housing and private sectors.. His mission is to create safe and comfortable housing by providing quality renovations within Affordable Housing communities. 

Ripon Education Foundation
Lottery Scholarships - $500 (up to 8 given annually)


Students who have assisted with the annual to Community Scholarship Drive for one or more years are entered into a scholarship lottery for each year of participation up to four years. A lottery drawing held each May determines up to eight winners of these one-time awards. No application is necessary. All qualifying participants are automatically entered. The lottery scholarships are funded by generous donors to the Ripon Education Foundation.

How to Apply for Scholarships


Eligible students may apply for these scholarships through the Fox River Scholarship Center by
adding the scholarship name to their basket. For more information, contact a Ripon High School District
guidance counselor. Applications are typically due in February. Check with your guidance counselor for more
specific information.
